Cassius looked away before he could make the situation anymore tense than it already was. Six-thirty in the morning was no one’s best time for decision making and Cassius still felt like if he pushed his luck with Jack the entire situation might explode.

Situations had been exploding a lot around him lately.

It was why he should’ve been nervous when he heard the doorbell ring.

As Jack crossed to answer Cassius couldn’t help but try another attempt at humor. “Should I make more?”

“Abso-fucking-lutely! But for me, not for them.” Jack had the door open in a moment and Cassius could tell by the way his shoulders stiffened it was bad news.
